How to keep fit physically and mentally like our Grandparents? Does it work?

Hi Team

The world is a funny place, if you watch the news - The world is on fire and there nothing we can do about it. No wonder people who watch the news or scroll on social media 24/7 seem more stressed or scared of the world outside their window.

The last couple of weeks I have stopped listening to it all and avoided the noise. I have focussed on what is important to me.

Family, friends, home and work.

What I noticed is that I was less stressed and just started enjoying the simple things in life.

I know this maybe hard to switch off espically if your career is linked to the global news or foreign influences.

But that is more important sometimes that if it is and you are feeling overwhelmed and stressed you do take the time and switch off.

And an interesting article I found about how "Granny Hobbies could be the secret to better mental health"

"These benefits, and others, might be what's behind a resurgence in what could be called "grandma hobbies," like crochet, bird-watching, gardening, baking and other cosy pursuits. I've even heard building adult LEGO sets categorised as a "grandma hobby" — it does get builders into the same relaxed state as knitters.
And there are plenty of reasons to take one up. "When people immerse themselves in a hobby, they often find an escape from daily pressures, creating a calming space where they can unwind and recharge," says Patricia S. Dixon, a clinical psychologist. "As they hone their skills, they may experience a boost in self-confidence. Additionally, if the hobby presents a challenge, it encourages cognitive growth and problem-solving. And participating in a shared interest can lead to meaningful social interactions, enhancing feelings of belonging and connection." And that's just the beginning of the benefits of grandma hobbies."

Check out the full article here it is a really good read and take a breath. - https://www.goodhousekeeping.com/uk/health/a64339959/grandma-hobbies/

Yes, it's from goodhousekeeping.com - There are good articles in there!

So hobbies are going back to what our grand parents did - A bit like fashion - seeing kids in oversized hoodies, baggy jeans and converse reminds me of my teenage years in the early 00s!

Also another interesting article is the these Gen-zers are slowly returning to church.

"But the most remarkable jump in reported attendance has been among Generation Z, quadrupling from 4 per cent to 16 per cent of 18- to 24-year-olds. There’s been an even more dramatic shift for young men: a fivefold growth from 4 to 21 per cent."

So again interesting that community and socialising that our grandparents did and how they created friendships are now slowly coming full circle again.

This reminds me of fitness and keeping that excess weight off. Where no matter what any of these social media influencers say. The old ways work.

Eat real food - proteins, fruits and veggies

Move your body

Get outside

Drink water

This is advice that the god father of fitness Jack Lalanne preached in the 1960s in the orignal influencer TV show "The Jack Lalanne Show" - (by the way Lalanne invented jumping jacks, thats how OG he is."

What are your Workouts?

I have been looking at Dan Johns workouts as he is one of the best coaches out there and this is a workout called "The Transformation Programme" - again it's pretty simple but if you do this for 4 - 6 weeks you will transform!

"Transformation Program

3 sets of 8One minute rest (Exactly!)

Ab work after each workout

Day One: Bench Press, Power Curl

Day Two: Front Squat, Overhead Squat

Day Three:, Clean Grip Snatch, Whip Snatch (Hi hi Hang)

Hill sprints two days a week"

What are you listening to?

Here is the Boss performing "Spirit in the Night"

One of the best songs and about the summer coming and spending times with friends and the possibilities that are coming.

Also live music is so good.
