New challenge day 12 - dedication and motivation

Hi team

A day off from the workout programme, i had the kids today and although a really fun day. I am tired for some reason today.

I have so many notes and writings about health, exercise, motivation, life in general.

I re-read this today that I found in a notebook so here it is.

Dedication and motivation

How do stay dedicated

Here are so many people out there that are different from one another and some people are dedicated to their families and jobs and will give to their 100% effort to make sure they are achieving their goal.

They work 20 hour shifts or 3 jobs and still seem to have the energy to be a great parent, friend and community member.

And there are some that may not have the dedication or committed to even text you back, go to the shop, or even thrive to get off their sofa because they maybe more dedicated to Netflix than to thriving and showing the best of themselves to the world.

But what is the difference between these 2 sets of people?

  1. Clarity of purpose.

Those who are more dedicated and committed have a clear purpose in what they want to achieve. They have a target and there isn’t anything that is going to sto them from achieving it. That could be provided food for their family, organising a community event, lose weight, help others that are suffering, whatever it is they have a set goal that they want to attain and they drive towards it. They show up.

Tip 1. - Who are you going be to? What does your future self want to achieve?

Set your purpose, commit and dedicate yourself to a specific mission.

  1. Start learning

Those who achieve their goals, have to start somewhere, they have to go to school, take a course, read a book, speak to others that have achieved what they are looking to do. It is time to stop being a brat, and say “They had it easy” no doctor, lawyer, nurse, police officer, teacher, millionaire, someone who lost 100lbs had it easy. They suffered, they failed, they had set backs but they learned from them and dusted themselves off and kept doing. Life is tough, it is rough and it will try and beat you down because it wants you just to take the easy option but that is not you this time. It’s time to start learning about how to achieve your goals from books, the internet, find a mentor.

Tip 2. - Once you have your set goal, research, read, watch, do anything you can to learn and figure out how to start. Find someone that had achieved what you want and speak to them, read their books, watch their social media. Take notes and start setting a plan and be ready to learn.

  1. Do it.

Those who are dedicated and achieving more and doing what they set out to do. They have set their goal and started working towards it. That could be picking up an extra shift at work to earn more money in hard times, it could be making a phone call to seek out volunteers or business’s to sponsor an event, it could be simply buying a healthy cookbook and writing a list of healthy ingredients to buy at the shops as the 1st stepping stone to losing weight. Whatever their goal is, they know that they have to start somewhere. No matter how small. There is no science to getting to the top of the mountain. It starts with a step and you keep stepping until you get to the top.

Tip 3. - What is the first step towards your goal? Do it even when it is scary and hard, Whatever it is, do it. Like Nike says ‘Just do it.”
